You called for EV roadside assistance in Brighton after the car stopped short. That’s the searcher question this page answers first. Help here is a mobile Level 2 charge or a 12-volt jump. It’s not a shop appointment, and it’s not an arrival promise. Charge Pro DEN is a referral line for stranded EV drivers. We match you with independent local rescue operators. The operator quotes you before starting and bills you directly.

United Power owns the electric side of Brighton

Brighton’s electricity is United Power, not Xcel. The City of Brighton’s own page says so. Xcel Energy supplies natural gas only, not the electric meter. That’s unusual for a metro city, and it matters. A garage charger that didn’t fill overnight is a co-op problem. Don’t call Xcel about a Brighton electric bill.

United Power publishes United EV on a monthly service agreement. It also publishes the EV Make-Ready Wiring Rebate. There’s an EV Home Charge Panel Upgrade Rebate too. RTD1 is the time-of-use rate, with Simple Saver scheduling. Rebate dollar amounts aren’t confirmed here. Check unitedpower.com for current rules before you buy hardware.

Nearby cities split electric territory street by street. Thornton and Commerce City can sit on United Power or Xcel. Brighton itself isn’t a street-by-street utility puzzle. If you live here, the electric meter is United Power.

US-85, I-76, and the run toward the plains

The stranding pattern here is a commute, then a thin last stretch. You come in on US-85 or I-76 for the commute. Then you head home as services thin toward the eastern plains. SH-7, Bridge Street, and Bromley Lane carry the in-town miles. E-470 is the cashless toll loop to the south.

Historic Downtown Brighton and Main Street sit on that grid. So do Prairie Center, Brighton Crossing, and Southern Hills. The US-85 corridor is what ties those neighborhoods together. People also drive to Adams County Fairgrounds and Regional Park. The Brighton Recreation Center is one more local stop. Barr Lake State Park nearby is on the same east-side drive.

Brighton covers about 21 square miles in Adams and Weld Counties. Commerce City and Thornton sit toward the core. Henderson and Fort Lupton sit farther up the spine. Tesla Superchargers are in the Brighton inventory. Named public stalls still don’t help if the car can’t roll. A low pack on I-76 as the plains open is a longer problem. You have fewer indoor places to wait it out. Wind and ground-blizzard exposure on US-85 and I-76 is real.

I-76 northeast of town runs into open plains. You’re farther from indoor waiting rooms and staffed lots.

Cold cuts range even on flat plains miles. Recurrent Auto studied more than 30,000 U.S. EVs in winter. Cars kept about 78 percent of max range at 32 degrees. They kept about 70 percent at 20 degrees, on average. Heat-pump models held about 10 points more at 32 degrees. The January 2024 arctic blast dropped Denver from 47 to minus 19. That drop took about 48 hours on this plains edge. Budget the pack for wind and cold.

The 12-volt can strand you with miles still showing

A car that won’t unlock or ready is often the 12-volt. That dead-looking car isn’t always an empty pack. The small battery wakes the computers and closes the contactors. Overnight cold in a Prairie Center lot is enough. A week sitting near the fairgrounds can do the same. Operators in this network jump or replace a dead 12-volt on site. They handle Tesla and every major EV brand.

If the pack is actually at zero, they bring Level 2 to the car. Tesla gets a native NACS plug. CCS or J1772 adapters cover the other brands. Typical add is 10 to 20 miles of range. That takes 15 to 30 minutes of charging. That window is charging time only, not an arrival time.

Stay on the shoulder if you can’t move the car. CRS 42-4-1202 covers a disabled vehicle outside a business or residential district. You may sit off the main-traveled lanes when you can’t go farther. Hazard lights have to be on for that exception. A violation is a class B traffic infraction. Colorado has no EV-specific breakdown statute at all. The same disabled-vehicle rules apply to an empty pack. Abandoned-vehicle tows under CRS 42-4-1803 start on officer discretion. The statute sets no 24-hour or 72-hour clock. Don’t wait on a number you heard from a friend.

If you died in a private lot, different notice rules apply. Colorado’s towing bill of rights is HB22-1314. It requires 24-hour written notice before most private-property tows. Exact drop-fee figures aren’t confirmed here. The Colorado Public Utilities Commission regulates towing carriers.

What CDOT and E-470 can do, and what they can’t

CDOT Safety Patrol is free on the freeway segments it publishes. Those include I-25 South from 120th Ave to Arapahoe Rd. They include I-70 East from Wadsworth to Airport Blvd. Portions of US-6, C-470, and I-225 are listed too. Front Range weekday hours are 6:00 to 9:30 a.m. Afternoon coverage is 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. Weekends run 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. I-76 and US-85 through Brighton aren’t on that list. The patrol will jump a 12-volt and change a tire. It handles emergency fuel, debris, and minor mechanical help. CDOT’s own pages say nothing about EV charging. They don’t describe bringing power to a stranded electric car.

COtrip.org and the 511 line cover closures and traction-law status. Traction law and chain law activate by highway signage. Confirm them on COtrip, not from a remembered date. Seasonal date ranges for those signs aren’t confirmed here.

If you’re already on E-470, the authority publishes free roadside help. Pull to the shoulder and dial *470 for help. They handle a tire, a jump, fluids, phone help, or debris. Dial *CSP (*277) if you need State Patrol. There’s no EV-specific toll discount on E-470. *470 isn’t a mobile EV charge to the pack. Read our note on out of charge on E-470 if that’s your road. National auto clubs and insurer plans often send a jump or a tow. They usually don’t bring Level 2 to the car. Confirm your own policy before you assume a charge is coming.

Charge in place when the car can sit

A tow is right when the shoulder is unsafe. It’s also right when the 12-volt won’t hold, or you need a shop. It’s the long way around when you only need miles. A flatbed still leaves you hunting a stall after the hook. Mobile EV charging puts energy in where you are. Out-of-charge recovery is the same job at zero. Charge Pro DEN doesn’t own trucks, employ technicians, or set prices. The operator on scene quotes you before any work.

The same referral pattern holds in Commerce City. Plains wind and a dead pack look a lot like Brighton’s. Tesla drivers can ask for Tesla roadside rescue. That way the operator brings a NACS plug. Non-Tesla drivers should say CCS or J1772 when they call.

Stay with the car if it’s safe, and keep the hazards on. If you can roll onto a wider shoulder or a lot, do that. Then say whether the car is dark or the app is dead. Say if the traction pack is at zero. That split decides jump versus charge on the call.
